We packed up and headed for Lake Bled.  It is about an hour from Ljubljana.  We arrived at 11am, checked in and headed to walk around the lake.  It is a 3 mile trip filled with scenic views. We walked around the lake and headed for Hotel Park.  This hotel is noted for its cream cake and this cream cake is very popular in Lake Bled.

Today we headed for the bus station to go to Kamnik for the ethnic parade.  We arrived in time to see several performances on the stage.  Then we staked out a table so we would have a good viewing spot for the parade.  Several of us stayed at the table while the others were able to check out all the vendors. After the parade we returned to Ljubljana and decided to go to the  Skytower for dinner.  We got there, but the restaurant was closed.  All was not lost however because the lounge was open.  It was a lovely location with stunning views.  We had a drink at the lounge and then went looking for dinner.  We were told by our waiter that most restaurants were closed on Sunday so we didn’t have high hopes.  As we were walking to the town center we stumbled upon an upon restaurant.  We decided to take a chance.  It turned out well.  We had a wonderful Slovenian dinner.  No pictures of the food we were too hungry.  Then again it was late and we returned to the hotel.

After the castle we had a drink at a cafe near the bottom of the castle.

We then headed back to the center of town for dinner.  By the time we finished dinner it was late so we headed back to the hotel.

After the city tour we decided to go to Ljubljana Castle.  We took the funicular up to the castle.

We the toured the castle.  There was 2 wedding receptions taking place so our original plan of eating dinner at the castle did not happen.  The pictures are of the castle.

We had a full day touring the city.  First was the Communist tour that lasted 2 1/2 hours.

Along with the tour we saw many sights of the city.

Then we took a break at a cafe in the middle of the tour.  Some of us tried Rokta.  It was the Coke that Slovenians drank because they could not import the real Coke.  It does not taste like Coke, but we were glad we tried it.

We continued the Communist tour that finished at 1pm.  We had to meet for the city tour at 3.  I’ll just give you the highlights.  We saw the lock bridge.

We did the same tour that we did 3 years ago and everyone seemed to have a good time.
